Why Seeking Validation Keeps You Stuck

You already know what you want to do. You can feel it, the decision has been sitting quietly inside you for weeks, and still you find yourself picking up your phone to ask someone what they think. You message one friend, then another, you bring it up with your family over dinner, you read what strangers online have to say about it, and you tell yourself you are only gathering information, when really you are waiting for one person to look at you and say yes, go, this is allowed.
The strange part is who we hand that yes to, because so often it is the people who have never once done the thing we are about to do, the ones who stayed exactly where they were and called it wisdom, and we quietly let their fear decide whether our life moves forward. So the question I keep coming back to is this, why do we trust the opinion of someone who has never walked the road we are standing at the very start of.
Eight years ago I made a decision that not a single person in my life supported, and what happened next is the reason I no longer ask for permission to live my own life.
